Ancienne Mairie (Ref. 0550) - Gite rental Castelnaud la Chapelle
For 6 persons - 1600 € to 3200 € / week
Superb three bedroomed, two bathroom cottage offering quality and elegant accommodation for up to 6 guests. Private pool and fabulous views.
Situated in the heart of the picturesque hamlet of Les Milandes, next door to the fabulous château, the house was previously owned by the humanitarian and singer Josephine Baker.
The cottage “L'Ancienne Mairie” was part of her Global Village and was previously used as the town hall/post office by her 12 children, and the many, international family and friends who came to visit the chateau!
The cottage is superbly renovated and offers quality and tasteful accommodation, fabulous views of the chateau itself and of the Dordogne valley below. It has a private pool and terrace.
INTERIOR DESCRIPTION:

* A lovely, spacious living room, bright and airy with its French doors opening onto the private terrace offers:
* Two cosy sitting areas with comfortable sofas, coffee table, flat screen TV and lamps
A magnificent central fireplace separates the lounge from the open plan kitchen/diner
* A dining area with a painted wooden table and six chairs
* A fully equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle, coffee machine....
A wooden staircase leads up to the first floor where you will find:
* A master suite with a king size double bed with built in wardrobe, bedside tables, lamps and chest of drawers.
* It has an en suite bathroom with a bath and shower over, wash basin and toilet
* The second double bedroom also offers a king size bed, bedside tables, and lamps and a dressing table
* The third bedroom has two single beds, and also a built in wardrobe
* These two bedrooms share a bathroom with bath tub and shower over, vanity unit and toilet.
For the comfort of our guests, bed linen, towels and pool towels are provided and the beds are made on arrival.
A mobile air conditioning unit is available and there is Wifi throughout.

The cottage has its own private terrace with a table and comfortable chairs overlooking the valley. It is ideal for al fresco dining with its barbecue and parasol.
It has a lovely private pool, measuring 7.5 x 3.5m which has sun loungers and parasols
Private parking and a charger is also available for electric cars.
NB: For a total immersion in the culture of Les Milandes, and the legacy of Josephine Baker, the owners will be delighted to invite you to the weekly “Soirée Guingette”, an evening of music, dance and food at the nearby Parc de Josephine Baker, designed and built by Josephine herself in the 1940’s! (July and August only)

 | We spent a lovely week overlooking the Dordogne, just near the Chateau des Milandes. Although the place is next to the chateau which is always beaming with visitors, it's actually very quiet and private. We are very happy with our stay and the hosts were charming. |
| We had a wonderful week staying in the Mairie. Two adults and two kids, 8 and 10. The view across the Dordogne is stunning. Watching hot ait balloons take off with a cold glass of wine, bliss. Kids absolutely loved the pool. Everything close by so minimal driving to the sights. House was so pretty and had all we needed. Thanks for an amazing week of peace and tranquility. |
