Pérance (Ref. 0542) - Gite rental St-Laurent-la-Vallée

For 12 persons - 2000 € to 3600 € / week
A beautifully restored ensemble of two former farmhouses, with private heated pool, large garden and great views, in the peaceful heart of the Dordogne countryside. The perfect place for a relaxing and peaceful holiday!
This fantastic property has recently undergone a complete and tasteful renovation, and now offers comfortable, high quality accommodation for up to 12 people.
The house sleeps 8 people with its 4 double bedrooms, and 4 bathrooms; and the cottage sleeps 4.

The House:
This former farmhouse, so typical of the Perigord, has been completely renovated with high quality, modern fittings, and many of its original features have been retained (stone walls, beamed ceilings and even the former cow cribs!)

- an open plan modern kitchen with central island is fully equipped (oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, coffee machine, toaster, kettle....)
- a couple of steps lead up to the dining area with large table, chairs and buffet
- a ground floor double bedroom with large double bed (160cm wide) has french windows opening out onto the courtyard. It has bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe chest of drawers
- an en suite shower room with large walk in shower, washbasin and toilet.
- a few steps lead down from kitchen into a laundry room, with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board
- a shower room (ideal after the pool!) with double wash basin
- and a separate toilet completes the ground floor

A lovely wooden and glass staircase leads up to the first floor, and into:
- the magnificent lounge with cathedral ceiling, sofa, armchairs, flat screen TV, and fireplace - ideal for cooler evenings.
- the "blue" bedroom has a large double bed (160cm wide), bedside tables and lamps and armchair and benefits from :
- an en suite shower room with large walk in shower, double basin and separate toilet.
- the "violet" bedroom also has a large double bed (160cm wide), bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe and armchair, and lovely views over the garden and valley beyond.
- the fourth bedroom also has a large double bed and chest of drawers.
- a family bathroom with bath, large shower, double wash basin and toilet

The Cottage:
Just opposite the house, on the other side of the courtyard is the cottage, sleeping 4.
- a spacious living room offers:
* a comfortable sitting area with a sofa, armchairs, coffee table and sideboard.
* and a dining table and 6 chairs. There is also a wood burner stove for cooler evenings in low or mid season.
- a couple of steps lead down into the small, but well equipped kitchen. (oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, coffee machine...)
- a shower room with shower and wash basin
- a separate toilet

A wooden staircase eads up to the first floor, where, nestled under the eaves you will find:
- a double bedroom (once again a large double bed 160cm), bedside tables and lamps, hanging rail, chest of drawers and an armchair.
- a twin bedroom with two single beds, bedside tables and lamps, hanging rail, chest of drawers and an armchair.
Both bedrooms have ceiling fans.

The cottage benefits from a reversible air conditioning system.

Wifi throughout.

The house is situated far from any neighbours and its large gardens offer various areas to relax under the hundred year old trees with a book and grassy areas ideal for ball games.
* the beautiful pool of 10m x 5m is secured by an electric cover and is heated from May to September. The final temperature of the water depends on the meteorological conditions. It is equipped with sun loungers and parasols.
* two covered terraces - one with an extendable dining table allowing everybody to enjoy al fresco meals together; and the second with garden sofa and chairs just perfect to enjoy a glass of wine whilst savouring the view!
* parking for a minimum of 4 cars

The house is a dream… We rented the property for birthday celebrations with family and friends - the place exceeded all our expectations.
Enough space for everyone to eat together and chat both inside and out, but also lots of private spots to just sit and read or simply enjoy the beautiful views and, especially in the mornings, the absolute calm and quiet. Simply listening to birds in the trees, the humming of bees in the beautiful flowers and bushes, and sometimes even spotting a deer in the distance, was so relaxing - it just felt like paradise.
The rooms are all spacious and nicely furnished and the kitchen has everything you could possibly wish for - and more. The pool, its fixtures, and surroundings are splendid and even tempted the more reluctant of swimmers amongst us to enjoy it.
There are a number of interesting places to visit within a 20-30 minute drive, but we so much enjoyed the house and surroundings it was difficult to leave.
All of us were just enchanted with the house and for Paul and me (but I think we’re not alone), the place is just magic and we hope to return.
On arrival, we climbed out of our car and were blown away by the absolutely stunning view over the valley between the cottages. We were met by Josiane and Daniel who were very friendly and gave us a tour of the cottages and grounds. it was immediately clear we had made the right choice as the property far exceeded our expectations. It is a breathtakingly beautiful setting with the cottages finished to an exceptional standard. We could not have wished for better.
The two cottage set up worked perfectly for our family, allowing our daughter and her family with two young boys to have the smaller cottage, whilst we and our other children occupied the main house. The décor, furnishings and ambience is wonderful.
The owners have thought of everything. The kitchen is so well equipped and stocked. The dining area was large enough for all 11 of us. The bedrooms were beautifully presented and the lounge stunning with its beautifully restored and exposed stonework.
It made a great base from which to explore the surrounding area. As well as having quiet days at the cottages, we also did canoeing on the Dordogne and a day’s cycling near to Sarlat-la-Canéda as well as visiting other nearby sites of interest. Domme was a particular favourite.
We would have no hesitation in staying here again, and heartily recommend it to others. It’s peaceful setting would suit those looking for a quiet location to relax, read or write a book. Similarly, it makes the perfect base for those looking to explore the local area.
Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your beautiful property.
We spent an enchanting week among the castles and gardens of rural Dordogne, there was so much to see we will have to come back! The ancient secluded farmhouse with spectacular views across forests and valleys is a picture postcard. The stone structure has been most tastefully renovated and the house is fully furnished. The exhaustively equipped modern kitchen and en suite bathrooms leave nothing to be desired. Special mention goes to the several stone terraces around the property, which encourage one to be outside whether for dining, reading or simply having a drink; and of course the mature garden which enhances the sensation of peacefulness. Highly recommend it!
