This is just a beautiful place in a beautiful town. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and would happily revisit. It's comfortable and spacious and full of character. It felt like stepping back in time in the best possible way. Beynac was a perfect base for us in the Dordogne. La Petite Tonelle, a town restaurant was a real favourite. We loved it!
The Ancienne Poste is a lovingly resored stone home perched over the Dorgogne River. On most mornngs and at sunset, we watched the hot air balloons flying over the valley. The home is well equipped with everything required for a comfortable stay, including a terrace and outdoor grill for dining al fresco and a small pool for cooling off at the end of a hot summer day. Although there is no air conditioning, the house was cool at night with the windows open. As noted in the listing, the house is located in a medieval village and you need to be prepared to walk up a steep incline to get there. Although parking is available near the house, it is challenging because of the very narrow roadway. Like many other reviewers, I would recommend parking below in the village car parks. My family thoroughly enjoyed this very special place and highly recommend it!
We loved our stay at Beynac et Cazenac! The spacious abode had rustic aspects but modern amenities. We enjoyed walking to dinner several evenings and the views were spectacular! We found delightful activities in the area. I would definitely return for another French get-a-away!
A gorgeous home in a spectacular setting. The view is truly breathtaking. A prefect location from which to visit the region. Plus wonderfully welcoming hosts.
The house and the town are just amazing. There is a postcard picture from every single vantage point. So close to the centre of town and the serenity was incredible. The spectacle of the old church bells as the sun sets, while hot air balloons pass by just added to the adventure. Then there is a pool overlooking the river…simply spectacular. We couldn’t believe the views were even better than the pictures online. Throw in a great kitchen and BBQ setting - it was an ideal holiday for us. I would say to all those intrepid adventurers - definitely don’t drive up to the house! Loved every minute

We have been going to France each year for almost 15yrs and this is by far the best house and location we have stayed at. House is stunning throughout and has had a lot of beautifully restored renovations to the exterior which have been tastefully done and in keeping with the area. It is very comfortable throughout and has been planned and equipped very well. It has everything you could possibly need. The outside area is a delight for dining out with a gas bbq and an outside kitchen area equipped with fridge and freezer (really handy when in the pool!). Everything was immaculate on our arrival. Lovely swimming in the pool overlooking the river! The views are truly stunning and the location could not be better as there is so much to do and see in the area. We have 2 teenagers and the tv was not used once in 2wks which says a lot about the house! I could not recommend this place highly enough, just perfect in every way! So much so we booked next year before this holiday finished!! Thanks Matt and Liz for allowing us to experience your wonderful home. |

A very comfortable free-standing house with plenty of space located in a quiet village with good access to interesting local areas. Kitchen is quite well equipped and beds are good. Walking distance to several restaurants and a small grocery store. Wonderful view! |

My husband and I stayed in L'Ancienne Poste in Beynac for a week. I would like to thank Sabine and Samantha for all they did to help us make the stay wonderful. Truly above and beyond. And the house was fabulous. Great views. Lovely spaces. A gem.
Charmante maison avec une splendide vue dans un beau village médiéval. |
